As Christians, we are called to be successful in all that we do. Whether it’s in our personal lives, our professional lives, or our spiritual lives, we should be striving for excellence. Of course, there are many different ways to achieve success, but here are three key principles that can help you reach your goals. |
First, make sure you have a clear vision and set your priorities accordingly. Second, develop good habits and stay focused on your goals. And finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it! These three principles should serve as a guide as you work to achieve success in all areas of your life.
We have lived on thirty beautiful North Western Arkansas acres since 1985. On the acreage in an open field is a large Bois D’Arc tree, also called an Osage Orange tree. The tree is old, gnarly, and thorny, but it was deemed The Story Tree a number of years ago when my grandson and I would walk or ride a four-wheeler from the house to the field where the tree stands.
Sometimes my wife would pack us a little snack, and we would head to the Story Tree, almost every time my grandson would ask me to tell him a story and I would gladly oblige. The tales were almost exclusively made up on the spot, contained local animal critters as characters, and most always underscored some good character qualities for my grandson to pursue.
My goal was to enjoy a healthy grandfather and grandson relationship, and hopefully, along the way to sow some thoughts of good character to take root in his heart as his life unfolded.
There are three main principles I hope are always genuine and alive within me, for they pave the way for a successful and fulfilling life. Though you may not be a child and not sitting under our old Bois ‘D Arc Story Tree, they are nevertheless true and effective when executed. They are:
- Genuinely love God and make him the priority of your life.
- Trust in him because he is the only one who has a record of never failing or disappointing you.
- Be encouraged by God’s promise to never leave or forsake you.
Though humanity may define success differently, one thing is certain; everyone has the desire to live a successful and fulfilling life. There exists no emotionally balanced person who would ever set a goal of failure in their life. These three key life principles for a successful fulfilling life are found repeatedly in the Bible in one form or another. God’s deep love for you caused him to give you every opportunity to discover these principles so they might take root in your heart. Of the many examples available in the Bible, in this writing, I offer them to you from Psalm 73:25, 26 (NLT Bible version).
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
Psalm 73:25-26New Living Translation
I desire you more than anything on earth.
26 My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever.
- I desire you more than anything on earth. (Genuinely love God and make him the priority of your life).
- God remains the strength of my heart. (Trust in him because he is the only one who has a record of never failing or disappointing you).
- He is mine forever. (Be encouraged by God’s promise to never leave or forsake you).
